Meet Our Doctors

James W. W. McCreight, DDS (Dr. Jim) was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. He received his BA from Luther College, obtaining a degree in biology in 1991. After his undergraduate education, Dr. Jim went on to receive his dental degree (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1995. As a graduating senior, Dr. Jim was selected by the dental faculty to present the commencement address for the graduating dental and hygiene classes that same year. Dr. Jim continued his dental education by completing an advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) through the Naval Dental Center of San Diego, California, in 1996. He was a commissioned officer in the Navy (lieutenant) during this training period. Dr. Jim then worked at several dental clinics in San Diego and Yuma, Arizona, helping both active duty Navy and Marine personnel.

Dr. Jim and his wife and partner, Dr. Wendy McCreight, founded McCreight Progressive Dentistry (formerly Yampa Valley Dental and Associates, PC) in 1998. Drs. Jim and Wendy also founded the McCreight Smile Foundation in December 2006, which is a dental fund that directly supports victims of domestic violence of Northwest Colorado.

Dr. Jim is also a past graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), studying both cosmetic and physiologic dentistry. Dr. Jim was also selected as one of forty-eight clinical instructors in the world to teach at LVI. Dr. Jim formerly instructed the Advanced Anterior and Comprehensive Aesthetic Reconstruction programs, teaching dentists from around the world state of the art cosmetic and physiologic dentistry. Dr. Jim also serves as a key opinion leader (KOL) for several dental manufacturers, including PerioProtect, Kettenbach, and BTL Industries/Aesthetics (Elite Luminary Team).

Dr. Jim is a five-time IRONMAN finisher. To this day Dr. Jim believes in daily exercise as well as resistance training as a key to mental focus and living a long life.

Dr. Jim recently returned to the lecture circuit speaking for BTL Industries/Aesthetics on implementing facial aesthetics in the cosmetic dental practice. Specifically on the technology of EMFACE and EXION which uses radiofrequency, HIFES (high intensity facial electromagnetic stimulation) and RF microneedling. His passion for the subjects discussed is shared from being a “founder brand” CEO discussing products, equipment and systems he and his team use daily.

Dr. Jim enjoys the outdoors of Northwest Colorado with his wife and two kids, Hannah Alexis McCreight and Jackson James McCreight. Drs. Jim and Wendy live in Steamboat Springs, also known as “Ski Town, USA.”

Wendy M. McCreight, DDS (Dr. Wendy), was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. She received her BS degree in nursing from the University of Northern Colorado in 1988. She worked five years as a registered nurse in oral surgery and cardiology. Her nursing career allowed her to work both in Iowa and Texas. She made her career change in 1997 when she received her dental degree (DDS) from University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

After her 1997 graduation, she joined her husband Jim in Yuma, Arizona, where she was an associate in general dentistry for one year until the founding of McCreight Progressive Dentistry in June 1998.

Dr. Wendy continued her post-graduate training by attending the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), studying cosmetics and physiological dentistry. Not only does she love to care for your teeth, Dr. Wendy enjoys helping her clients smile and feel more confident in their appearance through the use of injectables (neuromodulators and dermal fillers since 2010) as well as the new non-invasive treatments, EMFACE and EXION.

Dr. Wendy enjoys the beautiful outdoors of her Colorado home and spending every free moment with her husband and two children, Hannah and Jackson.
